Ryan Scott Whitman, 46, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2026, at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona.

Born on April 14, 1980, in Tucson, Arizona, Ryan lived a life defined not by material wealth, but by the immense generosity, loyalty, and love he gave to everyone around him. If someone needed help, Ryan was there — no questions asked. He would drop whatever he was doing to lend a hand, fix a problem, make someone laugh, or simply show up when it mattered most.

Ryan attended Amphitheater High School and was a true jack of all trades. He had a natural gift for building, fixing, and making things faster, louder, and more powerful. Whether working with his hands, off-roading through the desert, barbecuing with family and friends, or taking spontaneous drives while listening to country music, Ryan found joy in life’s simple moments and brought others along for the ride.

More than anything, Ryan was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather. He loved fiercely and completely. Some of the memories his family will cherish most are the unexpected and beautiful ways he showed that love — singing karaoke wildly out of tune without missing a beat, painting nails and dying hair during girls’ nights, wrestling with Blake, or simply getting lost on backroads with the people he loved most.

Ryan is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Lynn Whitman; his children, Alyssa McKay, Hannah Ann Whitman, and Blake Dean Whitman; his grandchildren, Cassie McKay and Colton Scott; his parents, Leslie Whitman and Robert Whitman; his grandmother, Olie Abegg; and his brothers, Jake, Nate, and Lance Whitman.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dean Abegg, who passed away in 2008. His family finds comfort imagining Dean there to welcome Ryan home.

Ryan leaves behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, selflessness, and unconditional love. Though his passing leaves an unimaginable void, the memories, stories, and impact he created in the lives of others will continue on forever.

Ryan will be laid to rest at Binghampton Cemetery, located at 4001 N. Alvernon Way, Tucson, Arizona 85718 reserved for family and close friends. A Celebration of Life will follow at his father’s home. Contact the Whitman's for more info if you'd like to attend.
