Rueben Carrillo Ramirez, a devoted family man, veteran, and lifelong friend, passed away on April 29, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on April 4, 1941, in Willcox, Arizona, Rueben was the youngest son of Gerardo and Gerarda Ramirez.
Raised in Willcox, Rueben later made Douglas, Arizona his home where he raised a beloved family. In his later years, he moved to Tucson, Arizona, embracing the community and parish life at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he was a devoted parishioner. His prayers were often sent up to Our Lady of Fatima. Throughout his life, Rueben was a man of deep faith and commitment, values he instilled in his children and those around him.
Rueben served honorably in the United States Army, proudly deployed overseas in Germany. His military service was a testament to his dedication and love for his country.
In his 60s, Rueben pursued further education with enthusiasm and determination, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Pima Community College. This achievement reflected his lifelong thirst for knowledge and personal growth.
Known for his very friendly nature and wonderful sense of humor, Rueben was often the jokester among his friends and family. His warmth and laughter touched everyone who had the privilege to know him. An avid sports fan, he cheerfully followed Arizona State University athletics and was a loyal supporter of the Green Bay Packers.
Rueben is survived by his children Tony Ramirez, Lisa Ramirez, Barbara Ramirez, Javier Ramirez, and Maria Martinez. He also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. Rueben was preceded in death by his loving parents, Gerardo and Gerarda Ramirez, and his brother, Librado Ramirez.
His life was marked by devotion to family, faith, and country, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rueben’s legacy of kindness, humor, and commitment endures in the hearts of his family and friends.
An inurnment is planned for a date yet to be determined in Willcox, where he will be laid to rest next to his parents.
