An intelligent, principled, and loving man, Ronald D. Milo, age 90, passed away at his home in Tucson, Arizona, on November 12, 2025. Ron was born September 10, 1935 to Elias Milo and Eva Milo in Steelton, Pennsylvania.
He is was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Milo; his first wife, Sheryll Milo; his parents; his brother Roger Milo, and his sister, Sandra Mellott.
Ron is survived by his wife, Barbara Post-Milo, whom he married in 1998, and his step children, Aunna Elm (Ken O’Day), David Elm (Lucia Elm), Rebekah Elmore, Leah Forger (Lucien). Also, his six grandchildren: Adrian Wahl, Aran O’Day, Ethan Elm, Emerson Elm, Elin Elm, and Agnes Forger. Ron has several nephews and nieces: Roger’s son and daughter, Steven Milo (Heather), Sherry Milo Smith, (Jim) and Sandra’s children, John Mellot (Carol), and Amy Mellot Leon Guerrero (Timothy).
Ron graduated from Columbia University as an undergraduate and went on to acquire a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Washington in 1962. He then moved to Arizona where he was one of the first faculty members in the Philosophy Department at the University of Arizona. Ron taught at the U of A from 1962 - 1996 and authored many papers and books that are still used in graduate course curriculum at various Universities throughout the world.
Ron lived in Sonoita, Arizona from around 1965 or 66 until 2017 when he and his wife Barbara moved back to Tucson. During his time in Sonoita, he enjoyed horseback riding on his ranch. He loved horses, dog and cats of all kinds and gave a home to many over the years. He enjoyed reading, staying abreast of political events around the world. He was an avid sports fan of college football, and basketball, especially following the U of A teams. Ron loved visiting and hiking the Pacific NW where he loved the climate and scenic beauty.
Ron will be remembered by many as a kind, and generous man. He was delighted to have grandchildren. He made a difference for good in this world and will be greatly missed.
