It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Diaz Jr., a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend.
Richard came into this world on August 18,1948 and passed away peacefully, on February 17, 2025.
He was born and raised in Douglas, Arizona. Richard worked for the Douglas Police Department for many years then moved to Tucson. He worked for the Department of Economic Security and then retired from the Arizona State Code Enforcement division. Richard met many great colleagues and friends throughout his careers.
Richard was married to the love of his life, June Diaz, for 54 years. He enjoyed spending quality time with his granddaughter Brooklynn, as well as family and friends. He enjoyed working on his car, cooking, and taking care of his animals. He always looked towards the smaller moments that brought family and friends together and always welcomed the opportunity for a cold beer and laughter.
Richard’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Richard "Squeeky" Diaz lll (Brittany), and his granddaughter, Brooklynn Diaz. His sisters, Mary Diaz, Debbie (Rene) Olivarria, and brother, Victor (Juana) Diaz. He is also survived by his extended family and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, June Diaz; his parents, Richard Diaz Sr. and Clara Gomez Diaz; and brothers, Frank (Ruth) Diaz and Juan Diaz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 27, 2025 at the American Legion Post 36, 5845 E. 22nd Street Tucson, Arizona from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
