Paulette Rae Archuleta, born on March 17, 1973, in Tucson, Arizona, departed this world on January 14, 2026, surrounded by the love she cultivated throughout her extraordinary life. With a heart as vast as the Arizona skies and a spirit that could not be dimmed, Paulette was the embodiment of resilience and compassion.
As a beloved wife for 30 years to James Archuleta, who she married May 6, 1995, Paulette shared a life filled with adventure and deep connection. Together, they navigated the winding roads of Tucson, often with their devoted service dog, Milo, by their side. Milo, who adored Paulette unconditionally, remains her steadfast companion as he, too, mourns the loss of his treasured human.
Paulette's fighting spirit shone brightly, especially in the face of adversity. Diagnosed with primary biliary cholangitis over 17 years ago, Paulette defied the expectations set before her. Doctors anticipated a brief struggle, yet she demonstrated profound courage, living with unwavering strength long beyond what they believed possible. Her life was a testament to resilience, filled with 17 precious years—borrowed time that was a gift to all who knew her.
From a young age, Paulette displayed a deep love for all living things. Whether it was caring for animals like dogs, cats, birds, or even more elusive creatures like javelinas and coyotes, her kindness enveloped everything around her. She possessed a remarkable ability to empathize with even the smallest of beings; if she encountered a tiny bug in distress, she would gently aid it without hesitation. This gentle nature, combined with her fierce love for the environment, marked her as someone who truly understood the interconnectedness of life.
Her interests transcended the ordinary; she found joy in being outdoors and cherished every moment spent in nature. Paulette loved visiting the Hopi reservation in Northern Arizona, where she connected deeply with her Native American culture, embracing traditions that added color and meaning to her already vibrant life. Football games brought her joy, and driving around Tucson with James and Milo were moments filled with laughter and adventure.
Now, as James stands at the open door with Milo, they listen to the birds singing from their cherished front-yard tree—a tree that belonged to Paulette. She always spoke of these birds, declaring that if they ever moved, they would accompany her. This speaks volumes not only to her love for the animals but also to the indelible mark she left on every aspect of her life.
Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Reymundo Acadiz and Pauline Martin, and brother, Larry Acadiz, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. Those who remain feel her absence deeply, yet they are forever grateful for the warmth, love, and strength she shared so generously.
In remembering Paulette, we honor a life lived fully and authentically. Her legacy of love, compassion, and unyielding strength will resonate in our hearts forever. She has left behind a legacy that encourages us all to care for every living thing and to face life’s challenges with the same courage and grace that she exemplified.
