Nia Clark, a vibrant soul whose laughter and creativity brightened rooms she entered, passed away on March 24, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on January 10, 1945, in the Bronx, New York, Nia’s life was a rich tapestry woven with love, humor, and a passion for the arts.

Nia’s journey began in the bustling streets of the Bronx, where she graduated from the prestigious High School of Music and Art before embarking on an adventurous chapter in San Francisco, a city that shaped much of her early adulthood. It was here that she cultivated her talents and intellect, earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Berkeley and further honing her skills with a Master’s in Social Work from San Francisco State.

In her twenties, she was married to Duane Clark, and in her forties, to Norman Peart. Yet, it was with David Brown that she found her truest joy, spending over twenty years together in shared happiness and companionship. Though David has since passed, their bond remains an indelible part of her story.

Nia was known for her quick wit and a sense of humor that could lighten any mood; she delighted in crafting puns that brought smiles even on the toughest days. Her creativity showed in her drawing and various crafting, she embraced the world of art with open arms and a keen eye.

After San Francisco, Nia settled in Tucson for over forty years, becoming a treasured member of the community and nurturing her passions.

She is survived by her older sister, Elaine Gottlieb of Lake Worth, Florida, and Elaine’s daughter, Michele Gottlieb of San Mateo, California, along with Michele’s daughters—two grand nieces Danielle and Camille - as well as two grand nephews Dylan (and Ashley) and Jake.

Also among those who hold Nia fondly in their hearts is niece-in-law Marion Gottlieb of Belmar, New Jersey and her lifelong friend Laura Steven of Berkeley, California.

Nia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Louis Leonard Spivack and Ruth Prible Spivack, as well as by her partner of two decades, David Brown, and her nephew, Stuart Gottlieb.

Nia Clark’s passing leaves a silence where once there was a sparkling wit and bright imagination. Yet, her creative spirit continues to inspire all who had the fortune to know her.
