Born on March 14, 1930, in the quaint town of Hamlin, Texas, Matilde devoted his life to both his family and his craft, exemplifying a remarkable work ethic and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Matilde's journey through life was one marked by resilience and dedication. His career in construction not only showcased his skill as an excavator owner and operator but also reflected his deep-rooted passion for building and creating. As he shaped the landscapes around him, he simultaneously built a legacy of love, support, and strength for his family.
He is survived by his cherished children: daughter, Cynthia (Jerry) Burnett; daughter, Elizabeth Muñiz; son, Edward Muñiz; daughter, Vivianne Cavanagh; and son, Martin Muñiz. Each of them carries forward the values he instilled, and they remember him not just as a father, but as a mentor who guided them with patience and understanding.
Matilde now joins his dear parents, Felipe Muñiz and Carmen Gloria, in eternal rest. Their lives were a testament to the virtue of hard work, and through Matilde, their legacy continues.
As friends and family prepare to pay their respects, Matilde will be honored at a viewing on October 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sensible Funerals & Cremation, located at 109 W Grant Road, Tucson, AZ, with a graveside service to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery & Mausoleum, commencing at 1:00 PM.
