With heavy yet grateful hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Marina Moreira (née Vera Hernandez) on August 15, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on January 26, 1935, in Santa Teresa, Jalisco, Mexico—a place whose traditions and beauty shaped her earliest days and remained close to her heart throughout her long life.

Marina was the embodiment of kindness. Her gentle nature touched everyone she encountered, and her love for her family radiated in all that she did. She devoted her life to the well-being and happiness of her children: Lourdez Orozco, Violeta Green, Javier Moreira, Eliberto Moreira, Lupita Gonzales, and Samuel Moreira, all of whom survive her. Hers was a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the delicious aromas of her cooking, a passion she wove into daily life. Every meal crafted by Marina was more than sustenance; it was a gift of love, binding her family and friends ever closer together.

Marina’s hands were rarely still—whether she was tending to her garden or guiding her family through the joys and challenges of life. Her garden blossomed under her care, a living testament to her gentle patience and nurturing spirit. Being a loving mother was only part of her legacy; she also joyfully embraced the role of grandmother and great-grandmother to her 30 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren, cherishing each moment spent nurturing those who came after her. Those who knew her cherished both her wisdom and her boundless affection.

Devotion was at the core of Marina’s character. Prayer was her daily companion—a constant dialogue with her faith as she prayed for the souls in purgatory, for those yet to be born, and in special devotion to our blessed Mother. Her humility, dedication, and deep spirituality were a guide and comfort to her family, lifting them during times of hardship and filling their lives with hope.

Marina now reunites with her beloved husband, Felix Moreira, cherished son, Francisco Paco Padilla, as well as her dear parents, Matias Vera and Guadalupe Hernandez. The lessons she taught and the love she gave will carry forward through generations, her memory living on in every act of kindness performed by her family.

A Rosary will be held in her honor on August 20, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way, Tucson, AZ 85713, followed by a Mass at the same location at 10:30 AM.

Marina’s gentle legacy—her kindness, devotion, and tender love—has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those blessed to know her. As we gather to say goodbye, we hold tight to the memories she gave us, grateful for her enduring presence in our lives.
