Larry Lee Cunningham passed peacefully on May 30, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela. He is survived by his children, Wendy (now Leiala Michael), James, and Patrick; as well as his sister, Linda; grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Born in Illinois on May 27, 1943, Larry spent the majority of his life in Arizona, a place that shaped his love for the outdoors and the western way of life. He graduated from the University of Arizona and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. After his service, he worked for Cleveland Building Company before pursuing his true calling as a self‑employed farrier, a craft he practiced with dedication for many years.
Larry had a lifelong passion for horses and mules, raising and training them with patience and skill. He was an active member of the Pima County Sheriff’s Posse, Southern Arizona Rescue Association, and the Tucson Saddle Club, communities where he built lasting friendships. Among his favorite traditions were the annual Tierra Bella horse campouts, which he looked forward to every year.
A military memorial honoring Larry’s life and service will be held privately.
