Karl Martin Merrick, affectionately known as Karol, passed away peacefully at The Center on November 29, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on July 8, 1942, in Campbell, New York, his life was marked by both dedication and service, particularly during his remarkable tenure with the United States Army, where he served for over 20 years and attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3).
Karol was not only a committed soldier but also a cherished family man. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Margie Batten (Rick) of Enfield, North Carolina, and Keddy Harrison (Bruce) of Sutherland, Virginia. His legacy continues through his three grandchildren: Bruce Harrison Jr. (Brittney) of Keyser, West Virginia, Kandyce Mason (Korey) of Church Road, Virginia, and Justine Wilson (Matt) of Dinwiddie, Virginia. Additionally, he was a proud great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece, Gladys McClure of Sierra Vista.
A man of honor, respect, and love, Karol will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
