Jose Escobar went home to our Lord on March 25, 2026.
Jose was born to Jose and Carmen Escobar on November 26, 1944, in Douglas, Arizona and raised in Tucson, along with his brothers Humberto, Julio and Oscar.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Carmen, his wife, Cathy; his brother Julio, and his grandson Joey Escobar.
He is survived by his sons Jose (Lourdes), Onofre, Fabian, Roman (Veronica), and daughter Andrea (Frank). As well as his grandchildren Adriana (Daniel), Crystal (Irvin), Alyssa, Roman, Bryanna, Anthony “Doughboy”, Maya, Myranda, Mireya (Alexander), and his great grandchildren, Adrian, Irvin, Veronica, Juan Carlos (JC), Sonia, Angel, Annaleya, and Gabriela.
He is also survived by his brothers Humberto (Cecelia) and Oscar (Rhoda) as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.
Jose was an outstanding Carpenter and Craftsman. He began his career as a Union Carpenter with the Carpenters Union Local 857 at the age of 18. During that time, he worked on many projects including additions at Tucson Medical Center, University Hospital and Tucson General Hospital while working for Baby-Henkel. Jose took pride in his part in “building Tucson”. After a forty-year career with the Carpenters Union Jose took his skills to Raytheon. He enjoyed working and spreading his knowledge as a carpenter to all his coworkers.
Jose was also known as an avid pool player. He was known throughout the pool leagues in Tucson for his skill and gamesmanship. He developed many friendships with all pool players in Tucson. Jose took pride in participating in the Senior Olympics in the Billiards competition. Know has a fierce competitor, The Senior Olympics always brought great Snowbird Senior pool players where he developed friendships with through the years. Jose was able to blend his experience as a carpenter and love for pool by making custom pool cues for many pool players in the city. Jose’s pool playing days were as long as his career as a carpenter.
Jose’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft Rd, Tucson, Arizona 85711. Visitation will be begin at 10:30 followed by praying of the Rosary at 11:00 AM, Funeral Mass at will begin at 11:30 AM.
