Helen Rose Conklin, a beloved matriarch and devoted member of her community, passed peacefully on February 18, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 70. Born on January 10, 1956, in Yuma, Arizona, Helen lived her entire life in this cherished hometown. A proud graduate of Yuma High School, she carried the spirit of her school with her throughout her life, earning the affectionate title of a “proud Yuma High Criminal.”

Helen wore many hats throughout her life, taking on various jobs including her time at Reflectone at the Marine Corps Air Base. However, her most cherished role was that of a stay-at-home mom. Helen reveled in the joys and challenges of motherhood, pouring her heart into raising her children: Jennifer (Tony), Jason (Becca), Suzy (Evan), Danny (Julie), and Amanda. Her greatest pride and joy were her family, with whom she nurtured a loving and supportive home, and she found boundless joy in her ten grandchildren—Jonathan, Kelsea, Hannah, Janae, Tylar, Morrgan, Zoe, Steven, Gage, and Jaelen—and her five great-grandchildren, Eli, Ophelia, Rosie, Inzo, along with Baby Santana on the way.

A woman of incredible strength and compassion, Helen dedicated herself to her community through leadership and charitable endeavors. Her remarkable commitment was evident in her 26 years of service with the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 398, where she held the esteemed position of Madam President twice and garnered respect through 16 years in various other offices. She was passionate about fundraising and making a meaningful impact, always striving to bring about positive change.

Helen had a fondness for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching baseball, often sharing lively moments with her family while cheering for her favorite teams. The Cooking Channel captivated her, as she adored experimenting with new recipes, bringing families together around the dinner table. Her love for music was a constant companion, filling her home with joy as she spent time by the beach or lounged in her backyard pool basking in the company of loved ones.

Helen is survived by her cherished children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her siblings Joey, Mary Alice (her twin), Nick, and Roger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Josie Zavala, and Rachel Alvarez. Helen's memory will forever reside in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her, as she leaves behind a legacy defined by love, kindness, and a commitment to her family and community that will never be forgotten. Her spirit will continue to inspire all those she touched throughout her memorable journey on this earth.
