Guadalupe “Lupe” Martinez passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023, at the age of 90. A dedicated family man and former sportsman, Lupe was born December 12, 1932, in Oracle, Arizona to Pedro and Catalina (née Miranda) Martinez. Lupe enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served during the Korean War and participated in the USAF baseball team.
After his discharge, Lupe met and married his wife of 63 years, Sally (née Alegria). Together, they raised three children in their beloved Tucson, where Lupe worked for the City Water Department until his retirement in 1994. Lupe will be remembered for his love of laughter, the Arizona Wildcats, quiet walks at Udall Park, Family, and sharing his steadfast faith.
Lupe is preceded in death by his son, Andrew. He is survived by his wife Sally, daughters Patricia (Robert) and Melinda (Joel), four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Lupe is survived by his beloved sibling, Sister Immanuel, Mary Helen Torres , Rita Gallo, Anita Reyes, Teresa Avalos, Frank Martinez and Tom Martinez.
His family and many friends will forever cherish his memory and the wisdom he shared. Private services will be held at a future date. Details will be forthcoming.
