Family was an important part of her life from the very beginning, and it remained at the center of everything she did throughout her life.

Guadalupe “Mama Lupe” Garza passed away on July 31, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her beyond words and a lifetime of memories that will forever be treasured.

Guadalupe was the beloved daughter of Manuel and Esmeralda and the third of six children. She grew up alongside her siblings, Eleanor, Melba, Mary, Pete, and Manuel Jr. Family was an important part of her life from the very beginning, and it remained at the center of everything she did throughout her life.

Guadalupe shared nearly 49 years of marriage with her loving husband, Fred Garza. Together, they built a life and raised a family filled with love, memories, traditions, and the kind of bonds that last forever.

She was the proud and devoted mother of Enedina, Angie, Fred Jr., and Joseph. Being a mother was one of the greatest parts of her life, but her love only grew as her family grew.

Lupe lived for her family. She showed her love in countless ways, including through the food she lovingly prepared for the people around her.

Her grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart: Marissa, Daniel, Rocky, Annalisa, Rosalie, Felicia, Gabriel, and Ciara. Each one was loved deeply by their grandmother and will carry a special piece of her with them always.

Her beloved granddaughter Marissa preceded her in death, and while the family mourns the loss of Mama Lupe here on earth, there is comfort in believing that she and Marissa are now together again in heaven.

To her family and so many others, Guadalupe was affectionately known as “Mama Lupe.” It was more than a nickname. It represented exactly who she was—a woman whose heart belonged to her family and whose love reached far beyond herself.

 Lupe lived for her family. She showed her love in countless ways, including through the food she lovingly prepared for the people around her. Her family will always remember her cooking, especially her tamales and menudo. Those meals were more than food. They meant family gathering together, time spent around the table, conversations, laughter, and memories being made. They were one of the many ways Lupe took care of the people she loved.

She was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, but above all, she was the heart of her family. She loved deeply, gave generously, and made sure the people she cared about knew they belonged.

Guadalupe is survived by her husband, Fred Garza; her children, Enedina, Angie, Fred Jr., and Joseph; her grandchildren, Marissa who is in heaven with her nana, Daniel, Rocky, Annalisa, Rosalie, Felicia, Gabriel, and Ciara, her siblings, Eleanor, Melba, Mary, Pete, and Manuel Jr.; and many other family members and loved ones whose lives were touched by her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Marissa, and her parents with whom she is now lovingly reunited.

The loss of Lupe leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but the love she gave her family will never leave them. It will live on through her children and grandchildren, through the traditions she created, through the recipes and meals that will continue to bring everyone together, and through the stories that will be told about her for generations to come.
