Gregory L. Jumper, 61, of Tucson, AZ, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at Peppi’s House-TMC Hospice in Tucson. Born September 25, 1962 in Carlisle, PA, he was a son of the late Carl E. and Doris J. Jumper.
As a teenager, Greg’s family relocated to Costa Mesa, CA where he graduated from Estancia High School in 1980. Greg received his associate’s degree in accounting and business management from Orange Coast College in 1982 before returning with his family to Carlisle, PA. Upon that return, Greg started a long, successful career in commercial and business banking. He was employed by several banks in Carlisle, PA, Boston, MA, and then his long-term home in Boardman, OH. Greg graduated with his bachelor’s degree in banking and financial support services from Ohio University in 1995. He retired from Huntington Bank in 2017 and kept lasting relationships with his colleagues and clients. While in Ohio, Greg was active in his community as a member of the Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club, and served on the board of Meridian Healthcare.
Greg was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in March 2013 and with his usual positivity and determination, he led a full and active life until his passing. Greg relocated to Tucson, AZ, in 2017, a place he has always loved and where he found peace. There he was active on his community Homeowner’s Association. As an avid tennis player, Greg enjoyed his time assisting on the pool committee to support the upkeep of his community tennis court and pool.
Aside from his strong love for tennis, Greg had many interests in life including a love for antiques, coins, jewelry, range shooting, motorcycle riding, yard work, playing cards, traveling, and haggling for a good bargain. Most importantly, Greg enjoyed spending time with his family and loving friends. Many would describe Greg as a terrific, energetic, and loyal father, husband, and friend.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Doris Jumper, his first wife and mother of his children Linda Jumper, and his brothers Stephen and David Jumper. Greg will be dearly missed by his wife Kimberly Stinson Jumper of Tucson, AZ, his two children, Ryan Jumper (Jennifer Gray) of Atlanta, GA and Emily Jumper (Rosco Ford) of Madison, WI, his sister, Kathy Gorka (Jim Crawford) of Erie, PA, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Greg prided himself on being a favorite patient to many providers, nurses, and medical techs. Greg’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the healthcare workers who cared for him over the past 11 years. A special thank you to Dr. Don Benson at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, OH, Dr. Krisstina Gowin at the University of Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson, AZ, and the loving staff at Banner-University Medical Center 3NW Oncology Floor and the University of Arizona Cancer Infusion Center.
There will be a private service to celebrate Greg’s life at the convenience of his family.
To honor Greg’s legacy and involvement in his community, his neighbors are building a memorial park in his name in Tucson, AZ. Donations can be made to Jon Weiss at 6483 E. Via Algardi Tucson, AZ 85750. We ask that “Friends of Greg Jumper” be written on the memo line. Donations can also be made in Greg’s memory to the International Myeloma Foundation, and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Rest easy Daddy, we love you always and forever.
