Frank Nicholas Spatafore, a devoted husband, respected community member, and longtime employee of Davis Monthan Air Force Base, passed away on May 12, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on September 3, 1931, in San Jose, California, Frank led a life marked by dedication, generosity, and deep commitment to family and faith.
Frank proudly served his country with four years in the United States Air Force before embarking on a notable career spanning 26 years at Davis Monthan Air Force Base. His service and work were a testament to his steady character and work ethic. A man of many interests, he enjoyed watching football and other sports on television, found pleasure in visiting casinos and playing bingo, and cherished gatherings with family and friends over card games. His spirited personality extended beyond leisure; Frank was known for his kindness and support, exemplified by his sponsorship of a Mariachi Band composed of young people. He generously assisted them financially with musical instruments, outfits, and travel expenses, fostering talent and passion within his community.
Born and raised in San Jose, California, Frank moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he married Mary Perez on April 24, 1954. The couple shared their entire married life in Tucson, building a loving home and engaging deeply with the city's community. Frank was a faithful parishioner of St. Augustine Cathedral, a cornerstone in his spiritual and social life.
Frank's life was enriched by the steadfast love and support of family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Gloria (Larry) Block; caregivers and friends, Sonia and Bernardino Ramos; and numerous members of both the Spatafore and Perez families, including many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary; his parents, Nicholas and Francis Spatafore; and two sisters, Ann and Marie.
The community will gather to honor Frank Nicholas Spatafore with a rosary at St. Augustine Cathedral, located at 192 South Stone Avenue in Tucson, AZ 85701, on June 3, 2026, beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Later that day, a burial will take place at Holy Hope Cemetery at 3555 North Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705, starting at noon.
A reception will be held from 1:30 - 3:30 PM at Sensible Funerals & Cremation, 109 W. Grant Rd., Tucson, Arizona 85705.
Frank’s passing marks the end of a remarkable life filled with service, joy, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the legacy of kindness and generosity he leaves behind.
