CMSGT Forrist Richardson

Forrist Lanelle Richardson, lovingly known as Chief, Ricky, Rich, and Papa, passed away on September 15, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on June 17, 1956, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Forrist lived a life marked by service, devotion, and steady care for others. Supportive and hard working, he was known as someone who was always checking in and never hesitated to help when possible. Those qualities shaped the way he moved through the world and the way he will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A proud member of the United States Air Force, Forrist served for 30 years. During his military career, he served in multiple logistic readiness squadrons and lived in Korea, Japan, Panama, Washington State, and Arizona. His years of service reflected deep commitment and discipline, and one of his proudest accomplishments was retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant, a rank that spoke to both his leadership and dedication.

Education also remained part of his journey. He attended numerous schools in many places as a military child and later graduated from SAC State. His life experiences across many communities helped shape the broad perspective and resilience he carried throughout his years.

Beyond his career, Forrist embraced many interests that brought joy to his life. He was an avid gardener, a golfer, a musician, and an enthusiast of media and entertainment trivia. He was also a member of Gideon Full Gospel Church and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, connections that reflected both his faith and fellowship.

On April 27, 2002, he married Leona Bull in Las Vegas, a meaningful chapter in his life that remained part of his story.

Family was at the heart of Forrist’s life. He is survived by his cherished wife, Leona Richardson, daughters, Tahir Richardson, Jerrad Trotter, and Danel Bull, by his beloved grandchildren, Empress Anderson, Auryoen Anderson, and Autreyu Bradshaw, and by his siblings. The love he shared with his family, especially in his role as Papa, will continue to be felt in the memories they carry and the bond they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Richardson, and his father, Forrist Richardson.

Forrist Lanelle Richardson will be remembered with love, gratitude, and deep respect—for his years of military service, for the strength of his character, and for the kindness he extended so freely. His life leaves a lasting impression on his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside service will be held at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana at a date yet to be determined.
