Ernesto Martinez Bedoy, born January 10, 1950, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, at the age of 74, surrounded by family and friends. The youngest of fourteen siblings, Ernie was the cherished son of Ramon and Rita Bedoy.
A proud Marine, Ernie served with distinction as Sergeant E-5 in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Republic of Vietnam, during the Vietnam War, with the Radio Relay & Construction Company, 5th Communication Battalion, from August 22, 1968, to September 7, 1969. He maintained lifelong friendships with many of his fellow Marines.
Known for his stern yet loving nature, he was a devoted father to Andrea and Robert and a role model to his grandchildren, stepchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. His generous spirit and readiness to help those in need were hallmarks of his character.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Rita Bedoy and nine siblings.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cecilia Bedoy; children, Andrea Bedoy and Robert Bedoy (Jennica); grandchildren, Rene Bedoy (Jessica), Ava Gutierrez, Audriana Robles, Damion Robles and Amerika Lopez Bedoy; great-grandchildren, Manny Bedoy, Selenia Bedoy, Lucifer Bedoy, and Rya Bedoy; brother, Jesus Bedoy (Leticia); sisters, Alice Basurto, Grace Cruz, and Antita Bedoy Rivera (Jesus); stepchildren, Maria Quintano-Bedoy, Gilbert De La Vara (Jamie), Joel De La Vara (Tessa), Ismael De La Vara (Elizabeth), and Kevin De La Vara; and step-grandchildren, Aurelise De La Vara, Trista De La Vara, and Jeter De La Vara.
Ernie will be remembered for his humor, honor and the profound impact he made on those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
