Dusty was born February 1, 1981 in Mesa, Arizona and passed away on May 22, 2026 in Tucson, Arizona. He was 45 years old. Dusty’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. Dusty was the beloved son of Karl Joe and Renee Sowards. He is also survived by his siblings, Wende Sowards, Christopher (Stephanie) Sowards, Joree (Kyle) Gagnier and girlfriend Shannon Burtis. Dusty was a caring uncle to his nephews Bradley Sowards, Gavyn Sowards, Gideon Sowards and Ruger Gagnier and nieces Lilianna Sowards, Lennyn Gagnier and Evelyn Sowards. His extended family includes many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will deeply miss him. He was preceded in death by grandparents George and Dona Sowards and John and Renee Kilcoyne, uncles Paul Sowards and Dennis Kilcoyne, aunts Antionette Hibbard, Ann Kilcoyne and Lonna Garding.

Dusty had a passion for the outdoors that defined much of his life. An avid hunter, he found joy in sharing his love for hunting with others. Dusty had a unique ability to connect with people through shared experiences in the wilderness. He also loved to cook, especially game meat dishes and share them with others. Known for his big heart and hard work, Dusty left an impression on everyone he met. He was able to forge meaningful connections with others. He possessed a quick wit and keen sense of humor. Dusty’s memory will live on in the stories shared by others. He will be remembered for the warmth he brought into so many lives.

Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rincon Stake Center, 1655 S Melpomene Way, Tucson, Arizona with visitation prior from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Burial will follow at Binghampton Cemetery, 4001 N Alvernon Way, Tucson, Arizona.
