Dolores Amaya Quintanilla, lovingly known as Dee, passed away on February 26, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on August 17, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Dee's spirited demeanor and caring nature touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Dee was a devoted wife to Antonio Quintanilla Jr., whom she married on July 22, 1971, in their beloved hometown of Corpus Christi. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family. Though Antonio has preceded her in death, his spirit and the love they shared will forever remain a cherished part of her legacy.
Dee was a dedicated mother to her three children: Ruben (Lisa) Quintanilla, Deborah (Shannon) Harris, and Michael (Dominique) Quintanilla. Her proudest accomplishments were her family, and nothing made her happier than being together with them. She poured her love into teaching her children through life, creating an enduring bond that will forever hold them together.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often seen playing bingo, planting beautiful flowers, and sewing with her skilled hands. Dee had a high-spirited nature that made her the heart of any gathering; whether at home or in the community, her warmth radiated love and kindness.
Dee cherished her role as a grandmother, to four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, nurturing each of them with affection and joy. Her unconditional love provided strength and comfort to those around her.
She is also survived by her brother, Fernando Amaya, who holds dear the memories of their childhood and the love they shared as siblings.
Dee is preceded in death by her beloved husband Antonio, her parents Frank and Mercedes Amaya, and her siblings Helen Villagran, Rosa Longoria, Bobby Amaya, Ernest Amaya, along with her grandson Antonio Francisco Quintanilla. Each of these lost loved ones contributed to the tapestry of her life, and their memories will continue to endure as a powerful presence in the hearts of her family.
As we remember Dolores, we honor a woman whose spirit was as vibrant as the flowers she loved to plant. Dee leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and devotion that will be forever cherished by those she leaves behind. Her caring nature and joyful laughter will echo in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to experience her life.
