Delia Villa Salcido

December 26, 1935 — June 6, 2024

Delia Villa Salcido, affectionately known as Vaty, passed away on June 6, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 88. She was born on December 26, 1935, in Tubac, Arizona, to Alfredo and Eloisa Villa. Delia's early life was marked by responsibility and care for her family. Growing up in Tubac, she attended Tubac School until the 3rd grade quitting to work and help raise her siblings. As a teenager, she moved to Tucson, where she spent most of her life.

Delia dedicated many years of her life working in senior living communities as a housekeeper. Her clients adored her, and she often brought her grandchildren along, instilling in them a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. In the early 2000s, she retired after adopting her grandchildren.

Vaty had a vibrant spirit and cherished life's simple pleasures. She loved music and could often be heard singing along to her favorite tunes. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, sipping on Bud Light and margaritas, and sharing laughter with her family. Her quick wit and penchant for cracking jokes endeared her to all who knew her.

She will be fondly remembered for her infectious laughter, her beautiful hands that worked tirelessly to care for her loved ones, and her unforgettable singing voice. Vaty was known for her strong personality and fearlessness in speaking her mind or kick your ass when she thought you needed it —traits that earned her respect and admiration. We would mostly want her to be remembered as the independent, loving strong women she was.

Delia Villa Salcido was preceded in death by her parents, Alfredo and Eloisa Villa, her children Armando, Susie, Thomas, and Benny, as well as her grandsons Alex Rada, Fernando, and Orlando Salcido.

She is survived by her children David, Gilbert, Beatrice, Marcella, Abigail, and Angelita, her brother Franke, 31 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Delia's legacy lives on through her family, who remember her as an independent, loving, and strong woman who shaped their lives with her unwavering determination and affection.
