Charles "Chuck" Montieth Grant

Charles M. (Chuck) Grant was born in Crockett County, West Tennessee to father Max and mother Dot in 1944.  He was an exceptional student and also an exceptional all around athlete at Alamo Junior High and Alamo High School excelling in football, basketball and (his favorite) baseball.  Among his numerous honors in high school were team captain for each sport as well as being selected Mr. Alamo High School 1962.

Chuck graduated high school at 17 years old and, instead of following a professional baseball path with the St. Louis Cardinals, he enlisted in the US Air Force.   He was an intelligence/communications specialist and served 2 tours in Southeast Asia (Vietnam) mostly in the Central Highlands in and around Da Nang.  At the close of his military service, he as was stationed at Ent Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he met his future wife, Maria Esther Quintana.  At the time of Chuck's passing, they were married 59 years and had raised 3 sons together.

After exiting military service Chuck and his family moved to Milan, TN where he worked for a time at the Milan Arsenal.  The Grant family then moved back to Colorado where Chuck furthered his education at Ft. Lewis College in Durango, Adams State College in Alamosa, and University of Northern Colorado in Greeley culminating in a Master's Degree.  His entire professional career was devoted to education as a teacher, coach, principal, superintendent, referee, and school board member in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.

Chuck is survived by his wife, 3 sons, 7 siblings, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
