Abraham ‘René’ Aragon was born in Tucson, Arizona on Monday, October 17, 1938 at St. Mary’s hospital. He passed away at home peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, March 9, 2026.
René was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, God-father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful friend. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family and friends. Especially family gatherings, camping, hunting or the swap meet.
He is survived by his daughters Renee (Bob) Verdugo and Blanca Aragon; grandchildren, Javier, Julianna, Cheyenne, Crystal, Victoria (Manny) and Bobby Jr. (Benito); also, his brother, Milton (Terry) Aragon and sister, Monica (Albert) Pacheco. Preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Carmen Aragon; his sisters, Terry Guzman, Toni Lopez and brothers, Freddy Aragon and Abe Aragon.
René graduated from Tucson High School in 1956 and was super proud that two of his grandchildren were third generation THS graduates. Soon after graduating, he moved to California to be with his sister, Terry and was hired at Lockheed Martin as a tool and die maker. He continued to travel to Tucson once a month to fulfill his drill weekends at the Air National Guard. He lived in California for ten years before moving back to Tucson. After returning, he was introduced to his future wife, Julie ‘Winnie’ at a dance by one of his childhood friends.
He was proud of being a retired machinist from the University of Arizona. He loved to tinker and fix things and if he couldn’t fix it, then it couldn’t be fixed. He loved to reminisce and tell stories about his adventures growing up. He also had a knack for telling jokes and making everyone laugh.
René’s spirit and loving legacy will live on. He will deeply be missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
Rosary and Mass will be held 10:30 AM, on Friday, March 27th at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 S. 6th Avenue, Tucson, Arizona 85713. With a celebration of life to follow at his home.
